Talent: search finals nearing CJFW and the Northern Motor Inn have just completed the third weekend of the B.C. Coun- iry Music Association Talent . Search, going on in Terrace. Christine Inkster of Terrace will go into the finals to be held on. April 21. Three other con- testants are already scheduled to compete the same date. The next talent search evening will be March 24, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Northern Motor Inn in George’s Pub. Ten con- testants are judged each night of the talent search, and the slate for the 24th is just about full. Jo Falconer, Eila George and Judy Tessaro. are the three members of the Speech Arts committee of the Pacific Northwest Music Festival who are in the process of getting their lives back to normal after helping organize a successful silver anniversary for the 10-day event. This year’s festival involved more than 1,000 com- petitors. | oe so a | - Summer arts school | —s_>stt society founded TERRACE — The second and third meetings of the local Summer School of the Arts steering committee were held last week, A constitution was approved to form the Terrace Sum- mer School of the Arts Society. It will become 2 non-profit society to coordinate the project of implementing a summer school of the arts in Terrace. 1991 is the projected first year of operation, Soe ey ae cu eee wate In the constitution of the Society, the purposes of the school are stated as follows; @ to further and enrich the arts through the sponsorship of national and international educators @ to promote the arts and provide quality art experience for students in the Pacific Northwest @ to encourage tourism and economic development for Ter- race and the surrounding areas @ to operate a summer school of the arts @ to engage in activities to further the purposes of the society ® to include a broad representation of arts and business in the operation of the school. The next step in the process is to elect a board of directors to oversee the programming, direction and scope of the Sum- mer School of the Arts.
