Assessment tab for Officer Candidates - A system that measures certain behavioral Characteristics which are determined to be essential for a . fire officer. b. Fire Incident Reportina System - Accurately assesses and subsequently Combats the fire problem through its use as a planning tool. c. Computers for the Fire Service - tow fire departments have improved | their operations in fire prevention, fire science and Emergency Medical Services through the use of computers. ‘d. The Political Role of the Fire Chief - The need for the fire chief to become involved, methods to énsure success. e. Innovation and the Fire Service - Innovative concepts to make the job / mre etfective, : f. Hazardous Materials - Who is responsible? How can we cope with it? ‘7 g. Subjects of Interest - Let's not re-invent the wheel - solve problems through the experience of others. 2. Productive Fire Service Group Communications - The program will include the purpose and nature of meetings, preparation for effective meetings, obtain- ~ tng group consensus, rules of order, dealing with problem people, preparing effective agendas ,record keeping, effective boards and the leaders role in the conference process. A 32-hour course designed to provide the basic insight into first-line fire operations at the company - officer level. Each student will be led through a progressive session of tactical components ranging from size-up to overhaul and will include such ftems as usage of breathing apparatus, inside vs outside attack, strategic concepts and others leading up to the application of learned materials through practical problems. .
