The call states further that: “We, Canadians of Slavic birth or origin, have the duty to issue this warning. Not only because both Canada, our country, and our Slavic moth- erlands are in peril of destruc- tion, but also because sup- posed. ‘liberation’ of our coun- tries of origin, advocated by small groups of desperate emi- gres, is’ unscrupulously being used as a reason for the reck- less Western brink-of-war pol- icy and to befog and poison the atmosphere here in Canada. It also calls for an end “‘to. the cold war discrimination against the Slavic people in Canada, especially flagrant on the part of the Department of Citizenship and Immigration. The call asks ‘why Hitler troopers and war criminals are welcomed with open arms and granted citizenship while anti-nazi immigrants who have lived in Canada many years are denied citizenship.
