Property Maintenance

No person shall cause or permit any accumulation of
brush or trees from land clearing to remain for more
than six months.

No person shall deposit or permit to be deposited
any paper, straw, hay, shavings, or other
combustible or flammable material in or among any
ashes or other materials or things taken from any
stove, furnace or fireplace.

Every occupant of any building or premises who
makes, stores, uses, or has charge or control of any
shavings, excelsior, rubbish, sacks, bags, litter,
have, straw, waste-paper, paper boxes or any other
flammable material, shall at the close of business
on each day cause all such material to be compactly
baled or stacked ina safe manner, or stored in nen-
combustible receptacles compatible with the Fire
Code having tight fitting, non-combustible lids.

Metal covers required on containers provided for
the storage of combustible materials as set forth
in Section 2.4.1.10 of the Fire Code, shall be kept

closed at all times except when refuse is being
placed in the containers.

Where fire doors or fire separation devices are
installed in any building to prevent the spread of
fire within such building, such doors or devices
shall at all times be kept and maintained in gocd
repair and efficient working order.

Fire Prevention Requirements

Gas and electric heaters or plates, if used or
maintained over wood shelving or tables shall he
protected with non-combustible material over an area
one and one-half times the area of such gas and
electric heaters or plates. When the number of gas
jets or electric heaters installed may generate an
excessive temperature the Officer may require such
further protection as in his opinion may be
necessary. Gas plates and heaters shall not be
installed under any wood shelving less than four
feet distant from such gas plates and heaters and
shall be at least 12 inches clear of any combustible
material at the sides and back, provided that when
woodwork is protected with a shield of non-
combustible material extending at least 18 inches
