Kirk June 26, City Administrator File No. Carlos Felip - Director of Planning Rezoning Application 1790 Cameron Avenue Planning and Development Committee — June 26, 1990 RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that this application for rezoning from RS-3 to M-1 be approved to proceed under Section 963 of the Municipal Act subject to: 1. The subject property being consolidated with the adjacent Lot 1 Plan 11613 NWD; Solution of the concerns expressed by the: Municipal Engineer}. Brown Street and Cameron Avenue to be left as natural buffers, with the addition of tree planting by the applicant, to the satisfaction of the Parks and Recreation Department. BACKGROUND: The subject property is designated industrial in the Official Community Plan. Legal access to this property is of £ Brown Street and Cameron Avenue, both of them undeveloped. The property backs residential development on the north side across Cameron Avenue and Thompson Park on the west side across Brown Street. PROPOSAL: The applicants are requesting rezoning to consolidate the subject property to Lot 1 Plan 11613 NWD, to allow for future development of the subject property without utilizing either Brown Street or Cameron Avenue. COMMENTS FROM OTHER DEPARTMENTS : Parks and Recreation Department: The Parks and Recreation Department would prefer to keep Brown Street closed and to increase the number of trees on this road to provide a better puffer between the industrial use and Thompson Park.
