Two days earlier, 50 young people crowded around the
memorial to honour their two friends..

arrived by. school, bus driven by Caledonia vice-principal.

“It’s been a rough couple of days for us,” he said.

Counsellors were on hand at the school to provide as
much support as possible. to help students grieve, he.said.”
Classes were in session with allowances being made for stu-
dents to talk to counsellors as needed. .

“We’re respecting students’ need to’ grieve and lean on, -
each other and others,” said Axelson. :

Large pieces of paper were put up at Caledonia for stu-
dents to write down their;feelings and thoughts to help them >
with their grief and frustration, he said.

- Caledonia’ principal Cam MacKay said. ‘that one paper
. filled with students’ thoughts had been sent to Manning, who

remained in hospital in Vancouver.
