The community that has the highest percentage of . participants (based on population statistics) turning out for a minimum of 15 minutes of continuous exer- cise or fitness-oriented activity today Wednesday, May 28, will be declared the winner. This is the third year of the Fitness Challenge and Kitimat won the first two years, It’s time for Terrace to become more active and win. The results have been: 1984 — Terrace, 6203 participants — 34 per- cent of population — Kitimat, 5469 participants — 39 percent of population. 1985 — Terrace, 4116 par- ticipants — 25.1 percent of population — Kitimat, 4969 participants — 41.4 percent of population. Terrace needs everyone to get into fitness — whether it be through a 15 minute fitness break, a 15: minute walk or run, or swim, or some other type of physical activity of the person’s choosing, said a spokesman at the Terrace Parks and Recreation Department. We know many people will not par- ticipate by themselves, but need the encouragement~ of a group, the spokesman said.
