SUBJECT: PROPOSED ROAD RECONSTRUCTION: DORSET AVENUE - OXFORD STREET TO
ST. ANNE STREET

RECOMMENDATION:

l. That Committee approve funding for the road reconstruction, ditch enclosure and storm sewer
installation et Dorset Avenue between Oxford Street and St. Anne Street at an estimated cost of

$45,046.83 (G.S.T. inclusive).

BACKGROUND

The section of Dorset Avenue between St. Anne Street and Flint Street has been reconstructed as part of the new
Kwaquitlam Middle School off-site construction work, The work includes the installation of sidewalk, curb and
gutter, road pavement as well as ditch enciosure on Dorset Avenue. However, the section of road on Dorset
Avenue between Oxford Street and St. Anne Street remains in extremely poor condition with open ditch on the
south side of the road,

Currently, children walking to the new Kwaquitlam Middle School on Dorset Avenue between Oxford Street

and St. Anne Street are forced to walk on the road right-of-way. Therefore, it is recommended that the ditch be.
enclosed to allow the installation of sidewalk and curb and gutter to provide a safe pedestrian walkway. [tis also.
recommended that the road be reconstructed to complete the road reconstruction work on Dorset Avenus

between Oxford Street and Flint Street as well as to provide a safe driving roadway for vehicles,

The estimated cost for the road reconstruction, ditch enclosure and storm sewer installation at Dorset Avenue
between Oxford Street and St. Anne Street at an estimated cost of $45,046.83 (G.S.T. inclusive).
