We have reviewed the tenders and our recommendation is to award
contracts as follows:

Bervan Homes $168,900.00
Heritage Steel 26,834.53
Structural Steel & Decking 364,091.00

TOTAL $559,825.00

Copies of all the tenders and bid results are enclosed for your
reference. ;

We have the following comments regarding the tenders:

Foundations .
Our budget for the foundation package was $161,292.00,
including CST; however, the scope of work was increased
to include cutting the existing slabs on grade to install
new footings. Our budget including this work is
$176,841.00. This tender is $7,941.00 under budget,
including GST.

Reinforcing Steel
The quoted price is $8,265.00 over budget. Upon review,
we noted that the slab on grade is bar reinforced. We
budgeted for wire fabric which accounts for the
difference.

Structural Steel and Metal Decking
The quoted price is $5,641.00 over budget. The 324 OD.
columns are very expensive but they are an important part
of the architectural as well as structural design.

A prompt decision is needed if we are to keep on schedule. (By
Thursday February 10, 1994)

Overall, the contingency has increased from $42,986.00 to
$51,851.00. A copy of an updated cost analysis dated February 4,
1994 is attached. If you have any questions and/or comments,
please call.
