Eng., Deputy City Engineer Peony Place Water Puoup Station - Appoinnment of Consultant & Request to Temder (Public Works Committee Meeting June 25, 1991) That the watermain projects for Coast Meridian Road, Laurier Avenue, Devon Road,, and Vincent Street, be deferred to 1992 and the Penny Place Booster Pump Station be constructed in 1991 as per attached Appendix No. |. That Dayton & Knight Ltd. be appointed as the consulting engineers for the remaining design, tender, contract administration, and as-built drawing of the Penny Place Water Booster Pump Station and associated works at their estimated fee for 1991 of $18,800 and an estimated 1992 fee of $22,200. That the Penny Place Water Booster Pump Station replacement be tendered as soon as possible. That funds for this project in 1991 come 25 percent ($131,500) from the approved Provincial Capital Revenue Sharing Grant and the remainder, $394,500 from the Water Capital Reserve Account. | In 1989 the Engineering Department identified the need to replace the Penny Place Booster Pump Station. Over the past two years with the involvement of the City Engineering staff and a Consultant, a very thorough technical evaluation of alternatives and meed was undertaken. Based on the technical need for immediate replacement of this booster pump station to supply acceptable fire flows and reasonable pressures during summer water usage, the Engineering Department recommended to Public Works Committee that the 1991 Projects be reprioritized in order to proceed with the immediate replacement of the booster pump station. Committee considered the matter on June 25, 1991 and agreed that the Penny Place Booster Pump Station replacement had a higher priority than the Coast Meridian Road Watermain, Laurier Avenue Watermain, Devon Road Watermain, and Vincent Street Watermain. The Committee therefore decided that based on technical merit we should immediately recommend to Council that the Penny Place Booster Pump Station proceed and that the other four projects be deleted from the 1991 Capital Projects List and included as high priorities for the 1992 Capital Projects List for the Water Utiitty. In the first year of this project, 1990, the City paid $22,000 for engineering consulting fees. In the second year of this project, 1991, we will spend approximately $526,000 completing the reconstruction of the booster pump station. In the third year of this project, 1992, we will complete a watermain upsizing from the pump station for approximately one kilometre. This watermain upsizing is necessary to provide the new pump station with an appropriate size and length of watermain to pump into. ‘This portion of the project will be brought forward for consideration with the 1992 budget.
