CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES The Minutes of the Environmental Protection Committee Meeting held on Wednesday, June 16, 1993 were considered, read and adopted. GVRD COBEtdUNAL COMPOSTING AGREEMENT 1XBhlt 11- Resolved that staff report to Council as follows: w'o There is reason to believe that the proposed regional approach to communal compost'll ing t . econsideration has been given to the rate g ton for dealing with greenwaste and the methods of operation. Citizens of Port Coquitlam canper likely be serviced by Envirowaste without having to go to Port Moody. Plans are under investigation for communal composting in 1994, and deaHng with Envirowaste directly. Progress will be reported in due course. ITEM lilt VANCOUVER RBCYCLING INDUSTRIES STAKEHOLDERS Resolved that V.R.I.S. be referred to GVRD and the Provincial ITEM IV: j)'.list Ministry of Environment. CITY OF CRANEROOK BYLAW TRANSFER OF PCB's — Committee approved the recommendation to adopt the A dministrator be consulted on the appropr'iate procedure to bylaw. The City has an interest in promoting water conservation, is doing this by distributing the advisory literature supplied by GVRD. Committee resolved and that no further action be taken. ITEM VL WILDLIItB MANAGEMENT AREA - COQ~ RIVER Conunittee noted that municipal legislation is air.ady in place to ban motorized vehicles including dirt hikes from the dyke, but recommends the following actions: la) Greater enforcement of the bylaw. lb) That an additional 10 signs be erected advising citizens that dirt hikes are prohibited on the dyke by law. 2) That the City Clerk be instructed to draw a bylaw prohibiting power boats at the mouth of the Coquitlam River and in the up legislated Wildlife Management Area on the Coquitlam River.
