From Oven and Kiln 2012 By Debra Sloan The 8th From Oven and Kiln dinner/auction will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club. A delicious buffet dinner will be served to 150 guests. There will be a display and silent auction of the distinctive artworks donated by B.C.'s leading ceramic artists. The auction will be ongoing throughout the evening, promoted by our special host, TBA. The prestigious $5000 NWCEF Award of Excellence will be presented and the winning artist’s slide show will follow. ‘The evening will finish off with the traditional parade and exchange of dessert plates kindly made and donated by B.C. potters. We hope you will consider attending because the NWCF mission is to support the level of discourse and quality of B.C. ceramics through the sponsorship of educational opportunities for potters in B.C. Our fundraising is what makes possible the Maureen Wright Scholarship fund, our successful NWCF Speaker Series, the keynote speaker in the Triennial Canadian Clay Symposium, and the prestigious NWCF Award. All Guild members are eligible to apply, and may show work other than the mugs and tiles to which non-juried potters are usually restricted. A new interpretation of classic vase and amphora forms that have inspired Mary's ceramics. NOVEMBER: Wide Open A juried show of small works by members of the Alberta Potters Association, this exhibition is one half of an exchange with the Potters Guild of BC.
