Environment, be requested to address Council! ar the earlies+
Opportunity regarding the facts Surrounding the recent washout at
Cewe's gravel pit on Pipeline Road and In Particular, the course of
action his Ministry is Prepared to take In This matter,

Background and Comments: '

During the weekend of November 2, 1985 a Washout occured at
Cewe's grave] operations on Pipeline Road resulting in the discharge
Of sediment laden water into the Coquittiam River. The attached latter
from the Ministry of Environment Provides details of this Incident,

In reviewing this letter, the Environmenta| Protection
Comm! i jee was not Satisfied with the Proposed action To be taken by
the Water Management Branch of the Ministry, . Specifically, the

Ministry of Environment TO prevent further Pollution of The Coqul tian
River, Hence, the request to have Mr. Hehn the Reglona} Director of
The Ministry to address Council at the earllest Opportunity,
