MEMORANDUM Mayor and Council June 15th, 1978 Alderman G.R. Laking, Chairman Parks and Recreation Committee Re: Awarding Contract — Expansion of Senior Citizens' Complex I have received word from Ken Webber of the firm Carlberg Jackson Architects, to the effect that D. and H. Construction is prepared to sign the contract and proceed immediately with the construction of the expansion of the Senior Citizens' development as per the schedule stated in their Bid, subject to an increase in the price of $2,701.00. This would change their basic Bid from $207,514.00 to $210,215.00. Since D,and H, Construction are’ not prepared to sign the Contract and proceed with the construction at their basic Bid, I would recommend to Council that we rescind the motion of the Council Meeting of June 12th,1978 in which we awarded the Contract to D. and H. Construction and I am prepared to move a motion that we now award the Contract to Heinen Construction for the basic Bid of $205,330.00, subject to them being prepared to sign the Contract and proceed immediately with the construction on the basis of their initial basic Bid. In this way, should Heinen Construction now come in and indicate that they also want an increase, the motion will in my opinion be cancelled and we should then review the question of the Bids from all of the present Bidders to decide who should be awarded the Bid.
