THE OLD Co-op building downtown is starting to show the
signs of upkeep now that it has been purchased by the city.

Last week city workers cut grass, cleaned up glass, board-
ed up windows and then covered the plywood with a coat of
paint matching the main building’s grey exterior.

“At this point all we are doing is securing the building
and making sure it is more neat, orderly and safe,” says city
planner David Block. © ~ |

‘And there are no plans that he is aware of for opening the
building to the public. . _

“If it’s going to be used for’anything there would have
to be a fair bit of work done,” he says, adding the building
requires significant repairs.
