Today there are approx. 450 youths and leader active in the Terrace district Boy Scout and Girl Guide Movement. SCOUTING PROGRAM BEAVERS: A fun-filled program designed for boys five to seven years, with emphasis on activities that encourage them to express themselves. Locally, there are three Beaver Colonies. The Beaver Motto is “Sharing, Sharing, Sharing’, and they promise: “To love God and to help take care of the world”. CUBS: Designed for boys ages eight to 10, emphasizing activ- ities that encourage a sense of fair play and participation in ouidoor activities. In Terrace, there are 3 Cub Packs. The Wolf Club Motto is: "Do Your Best,” and, as well, they promise to “Do my duty to Ged, and the Queen, to keep the law of the Mor Cub Pack, and to do a good turn for somebody every a w SCOUTS: Youths aged 11 through 16 are provided with a pro- gram encouraging self reliance and self discipline. There are 2 local troops. The Scout Motto is: “Be Prepared”, and the Scout promise is “On my honour | promise to do my best to love and serve God, my Queen, my country and my fellow man, and to live by the Scout Law”. VENTURER: this program for youths ages 14 to 18 stresses activities that encourage them to develop leadership and to participate in challenging outdoor activities. Locally, there are one Venturers. Their Motto is “Challenge.” ROVERS: A program designed for the development of Junior Leaders; their Motto is “Service,” Rovers, Venturers and Scouts are open fo girls and boys. GUIDING PROGRAM SPARKS: A program for five-year- “olds, that emphasizes co: operotion and shring, Their promise is “| promise to share ‘and be a friend BROWNIES: Designed for ages six to nine, with crafts and helping at home most important, Brownies promise to “Do my best; to do my duty to God, the Queen and my country; to help other people every day, especially those at home.” GUIDES; A program for nine to 12 year olds with emphasis on outdoor skills. There are 4 companies in Terrace. PATHFINDERS: A program for ages 12 to 15, accenting per- sonal responsibility and community awareness.
