Alecta Tern (Reynolds) Cap- ling was born on Oct, 1, 1908 in Wiikic, Saskatchewan to Herb and Ethel Simpson. ~-Fern was the cldest of eight children, who . included four brothers (Hunter, Earl, Bugler and’ Harry) and three sisters Gulia, Bina and Betty). The family lived on a farm near Battleford, Sask., before moving to Houston, B.C, in 1926, Fern went to Smithers to work for George Hefferman in Smithers’ Confectionery. On July 13, 1929, she married '. Jack Reynolds of Houston and lived .there- in a log house until 1940. ‘During the Depression, Ferm - looked after the animals while Jack was away working in the summer with the railway.
