a ——— Guides off to Idaho TERRACE — Four local members of Girl Guides of Canada havé been selected to attend a Girl Scout camp in Idaho, July 23 - 29. Junior leader Alison Lindseth and Path- finders Denise Le Gal, Nicole Jenkins and Jodi Cey are part of a con- tingent of girls from British Columbia who will be celebrating Girl Scouts of America’s 75th anniversary at their Jubilee Roundup. The camp is open to 2500 Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from Canada and the United States. Held at Farragut State Park, 20 miles north of Couer d’Alene, the camp will include stage shows at Silver Stage Amphi- theatre, outdoor sports, waterfront activities, hiking and campfires. They will learn about photography, folk arts, job interviews, astron- omy, child care, com- puters and more. Girl Guides of Canada are Brownies, girls 6 to 9 years of age, Guides, 9 to 12, Pathfinders, 12 to 15 and Rangers and Cadets, 15to 17+. Cadets team up Terrace’s 747th Air Cadets recently visited Kitimat for a day of drilling, competitive sports and recreation. The Kitimat Sea Cadets hosted the ac- tivities, which included softball, long distance running and a tug-of-war event. Terrace Review — Wednesday, March 26, 1986 9 Kitsumgallum Girl Guides held their annual Parent-Daughter ban- quet on Thursday, March 20 at Veritas School. / The banquet is the on- ly time throughout the year that all Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders assemble together with their parents. It is a time of celebration, fellow- ship and a time to pre- sent well-deserved awards, The All Round Cord is the highest award that Guides, ages 9 to 12 can earn. Girls who receive a this award have studied _ Banquet held the history of Guiding, earned their Citizen badge, developed home skills, camped and ac- quired an appreciation of nature. One fundamental of Guiding is service within the community and All Round Cord Guides donate many hours of their time to service. Daphne Heenan and Dana Heenan of the Second Kitsumgallum Guides have completed all these requirements. Everyone present was delighted to share in this moment with Dana and Daphne. Following the presen- tation of their Cords, Sarah Morgan read a short verse while the other eight girls of Second Kitsumgallum Guides presented each of the recipients with a flower. Each flower represented part of the program that they com- pleted. Dana and Daphne’s leaders are Shirley Gregorash and Gayle Heenan. Cords were presented by their past leader Gloria Le Gal.
