THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM - 3- The Committee reconfirmed that Paula Place is intended to be a cul-de-sac in the future and that the present access through Paula Place is a temporary access until development of the Genstar property. As such, the Committee would not like to see the road paved at this time. Instead, the Works & Utilities Superintendent will be instructed to keep the road graded so that the large potholes do not develop. The Committee also did not recommend the installation of street lights along this road sinee the majority uf the activities at school take place during daylight hours and since it would require the installation of steel poles and underground wiring for street lighting which again would make the road appear to be & permanert road. Therefore, the recommendation from the Committee is that the road be graded more frequently But that we do noe pave or install street lights. ITEM IV Re: Water Standing on Driveways on Prairie Avenue Alderman Gates had requested through Council that the Committee consider the problem of water standing on dips in the sidewalk along Prairie Avenue where formerly there were driveway crossings which have now been closed. This ponding water on the sidewalk is not only a nuisance but also a safety hazard in the winter when the water could freeze. ‘The solution to the problem would be to break out the sections of sidewalk which are involved and to reconstruct the sidewalk to a uniform level. There are three locations involved und the total cost would be less than $800.00. The Committee recommends that this work be done when time permits out of the sidewalk maintenance fund. ITEM V Re: Parking on Bedford The parking situation on Bedford Street has been to Council several times and Council is aware of the problem of insufficiant space along the street. Part of the problem is the parking of large tow trucks on the west side of the street in such a way that customers for the retail establishments must double park. Laces
