August 25th, 1975 Superintendent advised that the developer had a permit to burn: however, he and the City's By-law Officer intended to inspect the site at 8:30 a.m. the next day to determine whether or not the Tree Cutting Regulation By-law was being violated. Alderman Traboulay inquired as to the Progress being made in installing a crosswalk light on Shaughnessy Street at the entranceway to Lions Park, and the City Administrator advised that as this equipment is not a regular stock item, it has to be specially manufactured; however, the work is underway. Alderman Traboulay inquired as to the progress being made in installing speed bumps on Western Drive and the Works & Utilities Superintendent advised that this work would be started the next day. Alderman Traboulay referred to the new computerized system in preparing the statement of accounts, noting that it shows only the firm and price, but not the items purchased, and Mayor Campbell advised that the Finance Committee is presently considering the possibility of submitting the statements to Council as had been the previous practice. Alderman Traboulay referred to the report prepared by Consultant Bruno Freschi on the Regional Town Centre and inquired whether or not it was to be made available to the public. The City Administrator advised that the report has not been produced in quantity - there being only one copy available at the City Hall, and Alderman Traboulay stated he would provide the City's Library with his copy. Alderman Laking referred to an agreement Dawson Construction had made with the City to move its operation to a site at the end of Kingsway Avenue and phase out the one on Chester Street, and he drew attention to the fact that the site on Chester Street, which is now for sale, is being considered by the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia as a possible storage area for wrecked automobiles. Mayor Campbell agreed to Alderman Laking's request to contact Dawson Construction for further information and to indicate very clearly to that firm that the Chester Street site cannot be used for the purpose being considered by I.C.B.C. Alderman Keryluk referred to an article in the July 15th, 1975 edition of the local weekly newspaper setting forth incorrect information regarding the rental rates for Library space at the Shaughnessy Mall as follows: (1) $14.93 per square foot - annual cost of lease - this should read $5.26. (2) $ 6.22 per square foot - estimated annual cost of maintenance - this should read $1.80. /ll.
