Ken Armstrong As an ordinary British Columbian | would estimate that Grace McCarthy is the best option as she takes the Social Credit party back to its roots. At present the Socreds seem to be nothing more than a glorified Conser- vative party — more conservative than under W.A.C. Bennett. it has given us a two- party system; the NOP and Social Credit. | would like to see the Liberals, NDP and Social Credit as viable parties to give the electorate more of a choice. | think Biil Vander Zalm will win the delegates’ votes. Unfortunately | don't think the Social Credit party Is ready yet fora woman at the helm. | think they. are afraid they would lose an election with a woman as leader. Michelle Dubois | haven’t really pick- ed a favorite can- didate yet. Perhaps | _ will when | hear more from them, but | think that Bill Vander Zalm will likely win. The Terrace Review asked: Who do you think is the best candidate | for the leadership of the Social Credit _ party, and who do you think will win? Ed Curelil | believe Grace Mc- Carthy is the best can- didate as she has had years of experience in the political arena and seems to have been a guiding light in the Social Credit party. From reports I’ve read | think she will be the winning candidate. Rinatte Lagace I'd say Bill Vander zalm. He seems to be more popular In terms of public support and you hear more about him than the other candidates. | feel he would do quite alright in the position as leader of the Social Credit party. Bill Bennett will look like a pussycat in retrospect compared to Bill Vander Zalm.” Tom Harvie Personally, | would like to see Bud Smith win but | have a suspicious feeling it’s a toss up between Grace McCarthy and Bill Vander Zalm. | think the old guard is still strongly entrench- ed and a newcomer, with no political ex- perience, except in an advisory capacity, -will have difficulty gaining enough delegate sup- port. | still think it’s a 50-50 chance between Vander Zalm and Mc- Carthy and probably what's going to hap- pen is the Bud Smith delegates wiil give their support to Me- Carthy. | think when Vander Zalm retired from politics it was with the intention of eventually running for the Soclal Credit leadership. | believe that Bill Bennett will look like a pussy cat in retrospect com- pared to Bill Vander Zalm, if he gets in. Bob Dubols | would have to say that Bill Vander Zaim will win, but | feel that | would like to study all the candidates more fuily to indeed choose a favorite one. ‘Bel LE FS continued trom page 4 that Armstrong’s people can preach Britain as the Holy Land every week on TV is enough to make a leprechaun kiss the Blarney stone. According to my historical sources, Brig- ham Young ordered the cold-blooded murder of a party of American settlers at Mountain Meadows. One eye witness saw two piles of corpses of men, women and children. The settlers had stopped in 1857 to refresh themselves and were beseiged by a Mor- mon army. When they. got hungry and thirsty enough the leader of the army tricked them into . giving up and they were shot. Jehovah Witnesses on the other hand go one better than the Trinity they deny, Christians believe God is a Trinity — God the Father, God the Son and God the Ho- ly Spirit; Jehovah Witnesses claim Jehovah is a chair and a scepter for Christ to sit on and to hold. - What is the point of all this? See how many Christians you can name: Billy Graham, Pope John Paul II, Augustine of Hippo, Patrick of Wales, Johann Sebastian Bach, Christopher Columbus, John Bunyan, the Wesleys, John Calvin, Martin Luther, Joan of Arc, Charles Finney, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip, the Queen Mother. If you said any or all of these, you wouldn’t fit in with the three religions. Christians beware of their own- short-comings. Twenty percent of Armstrong’s converts come from Christian churches, as Armstrong himself is of a Quaker-Methodist background. The secret of these cults is that Pro- testant America is seen as the New Jerusalem, or the New Israel by men who would make it a theocracy. Pets continued from page 4 similar bylaws.
