Plans are already well advanced. They are now being stepped up. Pushed out of many countries by popular protest, U.S. military planners are now eyeing Canada and its Pacific Coast province for new “safe” missile bases. These plans place B.C. and its people in mortal danger. They would put our province in the middle of a nuclear holocaust if one should ever come. This was the result of a survey con- ducted by Western Surveys Research Ltd., and published last week in the Vancouver Sun. Of 500 homes polled through the province 51 percent favor- ed a reduction while only 42 “percent thought spending should be continued. Comments from those who favored a cut in spending were that Canada should be neutral; that defences are obsolete and ineffectual, a waste of money; ; that defence spending is a | threat to world peace; that tax- es are too high and should be reduced.
