The Public Works/Traffic Committee of Council at the December 10, 1991 Committee Meeting considered your letter dated November 27, 1991 regarding a request for a driveway access from Shaughnessy Street to the lot at 2194 Salisbury Street. The Committee noted that the City standards require that residential lots that border arterial streets use an alternate driveway access from lanes or adjacent residential streets if possible. The reason for this standard is to reduce the number of accidents on arterial roads due to driveway accesses. At present the City has a program of reducing the number of existing private driveways onto arterial roads.
