October 13, 1979 Alderman R. Mabbett Chairman, Leisure Activities Cornmittee . and Alderman P. Ranger Deputy Chairman, Leisure ‘Activities Committee -. Gorporation of the City of Port Coquitlam 2272 McAllister Port Coquitlam, B. C. V3C 2A8 ' Dear sirs: This is just to say "thank you" for. the tires installed in Sun Valley Park. ‘ie understand that further equipment installations* have been referred back to your committee because: a) it would be an open invitation to vandals; b) there is not enough interest in the community « With all due respect, HORSEFEATHERS ! All cities face the vroblem of vandals and yet. can offer creative play areas for their children. Moody Park in New Westminster and Stanley Park playground are both in areas with a high vro- “portion of transients in their population and they don't seem to have problems with maintenance. The Sun Valley area can hardly be called a transient area.** % As for (b), we think that the attached signatures should give you some indication of the community interest. . As our vrevious letter pointed out, Sun Valley Park has the only public vleyground between Coast Meridian Avenue and the Pitt River. Surely ve can offer our children a more creative place to play. * In varticular, an old fire engine. ** They also have fire engines that have withstood everything for the last four years that we know of.
