October 29th, A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitiam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on October 29th, 1979 at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor J.M. Campbell, Aldermen J.J. Keryluk, G.R. Laking, E.W. Mabbett, P.F. Ranger, L.M. Traboulay and M.R. Wright in attendance. Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer L.D. Pollock, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer F.E, Peters, P. Eng., Assistant City Engineer L. Melnechenko, P. Eng., Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove, Deputy Fire Chief J.N. Boileau, City Planner L. Lee, City Treasurer J.G.S. Maitland, Recreation Director K.J. Taylor, Works & Utilities Superintendent G.W. Ulmer and Mrs. D.L. Vyse. DELEGATIONS: Delegation: Mr. Fred His Worship Mayor J.M. Campbell introduced Mr. Fred Harder, operator Harder > : PoCo Cab : of the PoCo Cabana Discotheque, and stated complaints had been received Discotheque: i regarding liquor and drugs being used in and around the premises. Mr. Harder then made a presentation to Council commenting on the letter recently received by the Council from the R.C.M.P. and stated that all the points made in that letter were either minor in nature or beyond the control of the Discotheque management. Alderman Ranger asked how Many parents were present at the discotheque on Sundays and Mr. Harder advised there is “adult" supervision but that parents would be welcome. Alderman Laking asked how many problem cases they have had with drugs and liquor. Mr. Ken Barnes, Security Officer at the discotheque advised there had been 12 people asked to leave with only 1 being forcibly removed. Alderman Traboulay referred to the report from the R.C.M.P. regarding the type of clientele attending the discotheque during the week.
