A discussion ensued, and Alderman Thompson stated his view that the site was a very poor location for a school, and that the moneys would be better used in constructing a pedestrian footbridge across the Coquitlam River to provide access for students to existing schools in the vicinity, and Alderman Mabbett stated his concern that the proposed school would help to create more traffic problems in the City; however, Alderman Traboulay pointed out that it may be possible, as mentioned in the Committee's report, to receive some compensation for the loss of the land and some solution found for the problems that might arise in the future servicing thereof. Alderman Ranger commented that the City may want to use the land in the future, and he also mentioned that he did not want to donate a school site for the exclusive benefit of a developer in the District of Coquitlam.
