Prior to the question being called on the above-stated resolution, a discus- sion ensued and Alderman Thompson pointed out that motorists often travel in excess of the posted speed limits; however, Mayor Campbell referred to a letter received from the City of Edmonton, March 19ta, 1974, where the speed limit is 30 m.p.h, un- less otherwise posted, as. it was found that motorists were ignoring the 20 m.p-h. zones, and that with regard to crosswalks where a double flashing amber Might eax- ists, the. ‘speed Aimit is 20 m.p. he when the lights are flashing. .
