ia COUNCIL | : MAY 1 44973 Hy TO: Mayor and Council DATE: May 11, 1973 i " FROM: L.D. Pollock, it City Administrator , 4 . 4 | 1. John Gore - Works & Utilities Superintendent : / I have received a letter of resignation from Mr. John Gore our Works & Utilities Superintendent. John started work with the City in January of 1968 as the Utilities Inspector and was promoted to Maintenance Supervisor (subsequently changed to Works and Utilities Superintendent) in May of 1970. John has been an extremely conscientious and loyal employee and has always had the best interest of the City at heart. I have written a letter to John accepting his resignation with regret and conveying to him the best wishes of the City for the future. 2. Summer Hours In the past three years we have changed the City Hall office hours to 8:30 to 4:30 for the months of June, July and August. This procedure has not seemed to have SF BR EA on Site moe ANN affected the service provided by the Hall in that many contractors and businesses who contact the Hall daily prefer the early morning opening. As in the past we would provide special office hours during the last week of tax rush. I note that Port Moody reenter Be nee have gone to these hours all year round and the District of Coquitlam go on the same schedule for the months May through to the end of September. Our present Union Contract does not make provisions for these hours, however, if Council ‘ agrees I would obtain agreement from the Union. I would recommend that we revise the office hours for the City Hall for the months of June, July and August so that office hours are from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. LDP :da
