REMARKS BY ALDERMAN JACK VOLRICH IN THANKING PREMIER BARRETT AT THE U.BL.C.M. BANQUET ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER lith, 1975, AT PEWTICTON > Madame Chairman, Mr. Premier, Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen : It is my great pleasure to express to you, Mr. Premier, the thanks of the U.B.C.M. for your presence with us here this evening. So, Mr. Premier, our thanks. This is the first time in many years that the Premier of the Province has attended our convention. But we are where the action is, Mr. Premier. And you know, Mr. Premier, the annual convention of the U.B.C.M. is the cpportunity we take each year to express our unbounded admira- tion over the actions and policies of the government. But, Mr. Premier, it was ever thus. Mr. Premier, we represent on the local level of government over 98% of the people of this province. It is understandable that we should be advocates for better financial arrangements and other benefits for the people of our communities. Yet we are one people -— one province ~~ and our interests on the local and provincial levels should become closer than they have sometimes been in the past. We should be determined to improve our relationships, our contacts, and our under~ standings. In this way we can together, hand in hand, lead to a better quality of life for all who live in the communities of this great. province. ry Mr. Premier, I extend to you the sincere thanks of all of us for your being here this evening, and your addressing us. Your presence has been most welcome. ,
