Re: Canadian Institute of Traffic Engineers' Conference

When Fred Peters was discussing appointment with the City,
he mentioned that one of the things he would like to fellow through with
is attendance at the Canadian Institute of Traffic Engineers' Conference
in Calgary. He had already made preliminary arrangements while in Surrey
to attend this Conference. I indicated to him that I felt that it would
be possible as we generally send the Engineer to one Conference during the
year and Vince Borch had not participated in anything in 1978 to date.

The Conference is to take place on May 3lst,Jume Ist, and 2nd,
in Calgary and it does present a problem in that it conflicts with the
dates of the Municipal Officers' Conference which is in Quesnel, the
same week,

In this regard, Jim Maitiand, the Treasurer will not be
attending the Municipal Officers' Conference and I would, if necessary,
reduce my attendance at the Municipal Officers' Conference to enable
Fred to attend this particular Conference. This can be resolved amongst
ourselves. -

In view of the fact that Fred has made preliminary arrangements
to attend this Conference, I would recommend that we approve his attendance
and that his expenses be paid.
