AIRE YOUNOW, ORHAVE YOU EVER BEEN, INFAVOR OF PEACE ON EARTH ~ ‘) GOOD WILL TOWARD MEN? OPEN FORUM LABOR UNITY Ted Hansen, Surrey, B.C. writes: Your article in the PT of Dec. 5th under the heading, “Big bosses.prepare for gang-up on labor in ’70’’ prompted me to drop you a few lines. I do not think I should have to introduce myself although you no doubt have met so many people in the eee ge ee be very easy to forget one lone fighter in the struggle. I am, was and always will bea believer in unity of the working class, but am sorry to say can see very little of it in the trade unions of today. In warning of the tycoons in the ‘‘Employers Council of B.C.’’, you could have, I think, possibly assisted some of the workers in knowing where they stand, by naming some of the executive heads of many of * our’ trade unions, not only in 4 ©B.C.; but in the whole of North : athe: many of'them who are ’ going'to bed with the Employers “Council tycoons. I think it is only he. proper that a spade should: be j= _—s nameda spade. Well, like I said, I believe in unions and unity of the workers, ‘but I do. not believe in sellout unions or unions that blacklist workers. I am sick and tired of these unions and their policies, to the extent that if I do not find a “lott in the near future (without Se Re eee eee past 21 years or more, it would . being blacklisted out of it by some union burocrat), I am either going to take my case to my MLA — or I am going to put up a one-man picket line at the union office in New West- minister. If you have any other suggestions drop me a line and let me know of them. Ed. Note: This paper believes in and upholds the right of a unions membership to deter- mine its own affairs without outside interference. I t does not however support the ‘right’ of any union leadership, domestic or foreign, to deprive a Canadian worker of his (or her) job, and hence the right to earn a liveli hood. ) No PT next week In keeping with previous years the Pacific Tribune will not publish in the week’ between Christmas and New Years. Our next issue will appear the first week in January. With that issue the PT will be entering the new decade of the 70’s — the decade which will belong to labor and all those fighting for peace and a better Canada.
