PTC PIOile: FedrUuinws VISCOUNT ALEXANDER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SCHOOL DISTRICT No. 43 (COQUITLAM) OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL | 3250 Flint Street Port Coquitlam, B.C. V3B 4J2 2938.12.16 City cf Port Coouitlam, Puplic Works Committee, 2580 Shaughnessy St., Port Coquitiam, B. C. V3C 2A8 Attention: Mr. T. M. Chong, City Engineer Souad Dear Mr. Chong: A dangerous traffic problem exists on Salisbury Street off Oxford. This short section of Salisbury is used by many children as their entrance route to Viscount Alexander School. A campaign by the school and the R.C.M.P. has been underway for the past year to dissuade drivers to not drive into Salisbury from Oxford to discharge or pick up children. Many, however, con- tinue to do so. They can only proceed as far as a chain barrier. across the entrance to the school. They then have to reverse and turn around, often driving over lawns and residents’ driveways in the maneuver. Frequently windows are fogged up with darkness and rain - - poth falling. Small children are forced to dodge large vehicles while ‘double guessing the intentions of the drivers. It is no wonder that “residents and other parents are very angry. . I would hope that the Public Works Committee would arrive at a solution for this very dangerous situation. : Yours truly, James McNamee, Principal.
