(3) Guidelines: (a) Character of Buildings: All buildings, structures, and expansion or additions thereto shall be architecturally coordinated and should be planned in a comprehensive manner, giving consideration to the relationship between buildings and open areas, efficiency of the circulation Systems, visual impact and design compatibility with the Surrounding developments. Planning of all buildings subject to Development Permits shall be made with due consideration to the relation between building ’ coverage, yard setbacks and in relation to surrounding properties and streets. Townhouses or apartments shall not back onto public roads. fencing along public roads must access to the residential appropriately designed gates. Siting and Accesses: Where possible vehicular access to multi-family developments Should be achieved from a side road or rear lane. Parking for commercial developments facing Dominion Avenue wiil hot be permitted on the yards facing Dominion Avenue. Where parking is located in a yard facing a road, appropriate landscaping shall be provided to soften the visual impact of the parking area from the road. Vehicular access to commercial or multi-family developments will not be permitted from Dominion Avenue. Access to multi-family developments from Fremont Road will be discouraged; where access from Fremont Road is unavoidable, turning movements may be restricted. Landscaping: Substantial landscaping to screen parking areas from the streets and adjacent residential buildings and interplanting of the parking area with trees is tegquired. All vegetation used for landscaping shall be mature and of a quality acceptable to the Municipality. All planting must comply with the standards of or standards similar to those of the B.C.N.T.A, All materials other than vegetation, used for landscaping, shall be 'non=skid’ type and of durable quality.
