Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Revision to Subdivision Bylaw - Public Works =- June 17, 1986 Recommendation: . That the City Subdivision Bylaw to amended to change the colour of standard street lighting from green to blue for all new subdivisions and that the existing City street Iights also be gradually converted to blue through the annual repainting program. Background and Comments: The City has now allowed blue street I|ighting to be Installed along Shaughnessy Street as part of the annual re-palnting program for 1986. This has turned out to be an attractive change and the City now has a request from a major developer to allow the Installation of blue street lights within his subdiviston. However, the City Subdivision bylaw requires that the lights be palnted green. The Committee would like to see blue used throughout the City but recognizes that there wil! be a mix of colors in some parts of the City where In fill development takes place. The City has an annual repainting progran of about 100 poles per year In order to keep the poles fooking attractive and rust free. Therefore It Is anticipated that the entire City could be covered In approximately 7 year. Peters City Engineer FEP/kIn
