PRELIMINARY PLANNING GUIDELINES As part of the Province-wide consultation over the past few months, two technical preliminary planning projects have been carried out to develop some of the concepts which are arising out of the consultation process. The concept of a more intensive “Special Care* community residential facility was. investigated, as was that of a future “Continuing Psychiatric Care" facility to replace the existing Riverview/Valleyview programs. The figures recommended by the latter planning group for capacities of various types of bed resources have been attached as Table 1, and the related estimated costs have been ‘fncluded in Table 2. While these numbers are by no means hara and fast, they do repv2sent a serious effort to come to terms with the existing use of beds at Riverview/Valleyview, and the way in which these resources could be redeployed in future. They are introduced at this time as a way of visualiziiig one set of options for the future service system, and your comments are invited in this regard. 43 TSR Aes nee a remy mene ap agree me ee
