Free Symposium Ticket Some of us are pinching pennies on all fronts, [t's often hard to justify forking out the $25 for that new clay, or the $15 for exactly the right trimming tool. Although there is no public money for all of our clay needs, there arc monies available to help us attend workshops, classes and, most importantly, symposiums. hes NWCF North-West Ceramics Foundation ™ Maureen Wright Scholarship was set up to honour the self-taught potter of the same name. The scholarship will pay up to $200 towards any short-term educational endeavour. The upcoming Canadian Clay Symposium is one of these. It's easy to apply for funding and every self-taught novice or established potter can apply. Eligibility: a) The candidate must be a member in good standing of the Potters Guild of BC, bi Board members of the North West Ceramics Foundation of the Potlers Guild of BC are not eligible. c) Previous recipients of the scholarship or other NWCF scholarships are not eligible. d) Students currently enrolled in a full-time ceramics program are not eligible. (...because they are already exposed to training, education and inspiration...) If any of you have been to NCECA, there is always a sale of mugs to raise funds for the conference coffers. We're doing some- thing similar to raise money for the North- West Ceramics Foundation, a charity that raises funds to support ceramic activities... How does it work? Participants bring a mug (or ten) to be sold at the symposium for $15 each, The idea is to have potters donate a mug and then hopefully buy a mug of their choosing to raise fiends forthe Maureen Wright Scholarship. Because this scholarship is open to all potters, this fundraiser directly benefits everyone in our community. And we'll all have souve- fir mugs from the symposium!
