RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR CONTESTANTS 1.As 1966 is B.C.’s Centenary, only residents of B.C, will be considered as contestants. 2.No paid entertainer will be permitted to compete. 3. Entries will be honoured on a first-come, first-served basis as we are limited to 32 entrants per event. 8. All logs 12’ long. Contestant roll 18” diameter log started at time remaining if log touches any obstacle or pond sides. First and second place winners will be lec by most number of falls with ties being shortest average time per three falls. Scored 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 from bulls eye out — best score in three throws wins. Axe must be double bitted of at least 24% pounds, with 24” minimum overall length handle, including axe head. Practice throws at competitive targets means automatic dis- qualification. Throw line 20’ from target. Practice target will be provided. 13. STANDING BLOCK CHOP — Contestants chop 14” alder log. Logs not to be cut through from one side only. Timing ends when top hits ground. 14. OBSTACLE POLE BUCKING (POWER SAW) — Saw shut off at start. Contestant must get on pole below given mark, run up pole, start saw at cutting point, buck from both sides with underside of bar, shut off saw and run down pole to mark before getting off ’ pole and return to starting point. Finished cuts must be within 1” of each other at all points. 15. SPEED CLIMBING — Contestant must have at least one foot flat on ground at start. %” steel cored climb- ing rope to be used. Two way climb — upon start, contestant must climb until he rings bell with either hand (may be gloved), or head, and then return to ground. No climber is permitted to “slide” or “free fall” more than 15’ and no more than one such “slide” or “free fall” is permitted. (Accidental slips are usual- ly taken into account by judges.) One climbing rope must be tied at all times, so that if it becomes neces- sary to cross guy lines, two ropes will be used. The side of the rope used for tying-in and adjusting is to be free of snaps. ees 16. POWER SAW BUCKING — 26” fir log. One man saw only. Contestants must move from starting point to log, start saw and bury saw to depth of blade with undercut. Make complete cut, from top to undercut of log, with underside of bar. Finished cuts must be , Within 1” of each other at all points. Then return to starting point with saw at “off” (saw must not be used to pry cut). 17.POLE FALLING — Any type axe may be used. Pole must hit peg and not roll on to score. Time and accuracy count. 18. Preliminary events will be held on: Saturday, August 20th Monday, August 22nd Wednesday, August 24th Thursday, August 25th Saturday, August 27th Monday, August 29th Wednesday, August 31st Thursday, September 1st 19. First and second place winners from each preliminary aay pil continue to semi-final days. Semi-final days will be: Tuesday, August 23rd Friday, August 26th Tuesday, August 30th Friday, September 2nd 20. Semi-finalists will compete in first and second shows only on Saturday, September 3rd. 21. Semi-final winners will compete in first and second shows only on Saturday, September 3rd. Runners up of first and second shows on Saturday, September 3rd will compete in last show of day on Saturday, Sep- tember 3rd. 22, Finalists will compete in round robin knock-out on Labour Day, Monday, September 5th in all three shows to determine 4th, 3rd, 2nd and Champion of each event.
