Prior to this, he represented Hungary at the League of Nations and collaborated with Mussolini and Laval of France. In March 1940, Eckhardt arrived in the U.S., leaving his family safe- ly in already Nazi-dominated Hun- gary. As to the charac- ter and purpose of his movement, we can quote his own words: “The form of government is not important. I personally am for a monarchy because in a monarchy the army is more trustworthy, and with the improved arms of today, with three hundred tanks and one thousand airplanes, it would be possible to extinguish any revolu- tion if after the war there should be a revolution.” There is every reason to believe that Eckhardt and similar lectur- ers are part and parcel of the Wall Street. scheme to make Canada @ war base and battering-ram against world peace and democ- racy. : Marshall plan boosts jobless in BC lumber LAKE COWICHAN, B.C. “Unemployment in B.C.’s lum- ber industry is not just a temporary condition—it threatens to become permanent and is a direct result of the Marshall Plan,” declared Henry an LPP-sponsored here Lundgren at. meeting on unemployment Sunday night. “Canada must break with ‘the Marshall Plan; we must regain our national independence,” he said. “The Unemployment Insurance Act must be amended to allow relief for workers who are. destitute;. and the government must immediately institute a road building and pub- lic works program.” A committee of five citizens was set up to investigate the local un- employment situation and plan further action.
