MEMORANDUM

Mayor and Council October 16th, 1982

Alderman E.W. Mabbett

For several years now we have had discussions on recycling of various materials,
not only to save and re-use material but also to alleviate some of the costs of
hauling to the sanitary landfill sites. Again this past month one of our
resident taxpayers approached Council wanting to know why some other areas at
least have a newspaper container for recycling purposes and we have nothing.

I would move that Administration get in contact with the Variety Club of B.c.,
who are very interested in setting up containers in suitable locations in our

City. The one area that I would recommend is on the lot beside McAllister
Street Firehall.
