THE COPoORATION OF THE CITY OF PO~~ COQUITLAM PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE A meeting of the Parks & Recreation Committee was held in the port Coquitlam Recreation Office on April 11th, 1984, at 4:00 p.m. In attendance were Alderman Farnworth, Alderman Keryluk and Alderman Stewart. Also in attendance was K. Janna Taylor, parks & Recreation Director. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES That. the minutes of the meeting of the parks & Recreation held on Wednesday, April 4th, 1984, be taken as read and adopted. Item No. 1 May Day The attached letter was discussed in regard to the Hyack Festival, inviting our May Queen and her attendants to join in their 114th May Day Ceremony on Wednesday, May 23rd, 1984. Recommended: That our 1984 May Queen and her attendants join in the 114th May Day Ceremonies on Wednesday, May 23rd, 1984. CARRIED The attached letter from Woodlands in regard to their 1984 Carnival was discussed. It was felt that the Hyack CARPETED Festival was more appropriate to attend as related to May Day. Recommended: That our 1984 May Queen and her attendants not attend the program at Woodlands, May 23rd, 1984. it There was general discussion the Chamber of Commerce hosting the reception for the on1984 May Queen. The Committee asked that they be made aware of the tentative agenda for the evening. Janna indicated that she would follow this up. Queen's Banquet & Queen's Crowning Discussion took place in regard to who was going CARPETED to M.C. the Banquet and the Queen's Crowning. Charles Saunders will M.C. the crowning and Mayor raboulay will M.C. the Queen's Banquet. Recommended: That Charles Saunders be given an invitation to the Queen's Banquet. Continued. APR 13 SA~ Item Mo. 2 P.C.A.A.A. - Non-Resident Athletes A general discussion took place around the question of P.C.A.A.A. and non-resident athletes and Bob Sutter and Bill Hyde would be invited to attend the Parks s Recreation Committee meeting for their input. Recommended: That Bob Sutter be invited to attend the April 25th Parks & Recreation Committee meeting and that Bill Hyde be requested to attend the May 9th Parks s Recreation Committee meeting. CARRIED Item Mo. 3 Reeve Street Soccer Field Janna Taylor indicated that final had been received from consultant. The drawincs city work crews will be doina the the construction. Recommended: That a memo be sent to Mayor and Council indicating that the drawings had received and that would be located in thebeen Aldermen's office for these viewing. CARRIED Item No. 4 Tree Cutting Alderman Bill Stewart brought up the question as to how many trees were to be cut on Prairie in regard to the chemo sent by Janna Taylor Avenue and, also, how many trees had been cut in Evergreen Park. Recorusended: That Janna Taylor investicate the of the trees and report back to the next question parks s Recreation Committee meeting. CAPJ!IED Continued. APR Ramp - Wheelchairs Item No. 5 Alderman Farnworth brought up the question of the possibility of supplying some kind of platform for wheelchairs in the arenas. Recommended: That Janna Taylor request the Parks Superintendent look into the cost of having such a platform in both arenas and that this be brought back to the Parks & Recreation Committee.
