Kitimat talk to the official scorekeeper at the seniors cribbage playoffs at the
Happy Gang Centre on March 27, In all, six teams battled for three spots on
the seniors zone team that will compete in the B.C, Seniors’ Games in the Elk
Valley. Although the event is held In August, the northwest zone representa-
tives wanted to make sure three local teams were selected before people left

“You know, Rebecca, |'m really lucky.”

Melissa was sitting in her living room
with Rebecca. They were sewing costumes
for their children’s school play.

“| was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis
seventeen years ago. When / first found out,
| thought my life was over. But} haven't had
any symptoms yet! I've been able to do: so
much.”

Her friend suggested, “Maybe it was a
misdiagnosis."

"| hope so." Melissa smiled. She held
up her son’s costume. “Isn't Billy’ golng to

make an adorable Tin Man?”

Melissa glanced at’ the clock. “Ch, |
have to go. "im picking Billy up from saccer
practice." -

On the way to the soccer field, Melissa ;

was stopped at a réd light. Suddenly,.a car
approached from behind, much too. quickly.

“CRAAASSSSSHHHEHI’ -

The accident drastically changed
Melissa's life.

A few months later, Rebecca opened ‘the
door to Melissa’s house.

“Melissa? Where are you?. The school
play is tomorrow! You haven't been to the
meetings...”

Rebecca stopped dead in-her tracks.

She barely recognized her friend's: house.
Dirty clothes and dishes were:plled every-
where. Matissa was lying on the couch,
