THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM ' 0 lJ N ( MEMORANDUM MAR 2 1981 Mayor and Aldermen February 26th, 1981 R.A. Freeman City Clerk Re: Amendment to Board of Variance By-law A copy of By~law No. 1820, a By~law to amend the City's Board of ‘Variance By~law, is attached and is available for first three readings. The present provision in the by-law requires notice to be given by registered or certified mail and we have frequently found that difficulties arise in that those persons to whom the letters are addressed are not always home to accept delivery with the result that a card is left requiring their attendance at the post office. We have found that when this occurs the notices are frequently not received until after the hearing has been held, ‘even though the notices are always mailed at least one week in advance. This proposed change to the by-law has been approved by the members of the Board of Variance and by our solicitor. .
