Re: Joint Upgrading of School Fields

Council will recall that the City entered into an agreement with School
District No. 43 to provide for joint upgrading and maintenance of ‘certain
fields. Provision was made in the 1977 Budget for improvements to Viscount
Alexander School, George Pearkes, James Park Elementary and Central Elementary.
The work has been completed on Viscount School and George Pearkes field is
nearing completion. The Committee would like to continue this project and
complete James Park and Central Elementary School fields in 1978.

When the agreement was entered into, the School District specifically asked
that if Council wish to continue the arrangements for 1978, that we advise
them prior to the end of the current year. .Accordingly, the Committee has
discussed this item and would recommend ‘to Council that we continue the
programme for 1978 and that the School District be asked to renew the
arrangements For the coming year.
