Pollock, City Administrator The Community Development Committee met on Wednesday, November 5th, 1975 and present at the meeting were: 1, 2. LOP ims ‘Encls, Chairman, Alderman Laking Alderman Traboulay Lanson Lee, Planning Officer. ‘L.D. Pollock, City Administrator The following items were discussed: Wellington Street Closure The Committee recommends that Council approve the abandonment of a small portion of Wellington Street between Coquitlam Avenue and Suffolk Street (see attached map). The closure would enable the resulting parcel. to be subdivided into two 66 foot building sites, one frouting on Coquitlam Avenue and one fronting on Suffolk Street. The Committee recommends that Council authorize the closure of this street and that application be made to have title to the land vested in the name of the City. Record ‘Chemical Co. Western Ltd, Location of ‘Industrial Plant The Committee Chairman has been meeting with ‘representatives of . Record Chemical Co. with regard to establishing a plant in the City of Port Coquitlam. Attached is some preliminary information on the ‘plant which includes a description of the type of operation, a report from the local Assistant Fire Marshall commenting on the establishment from the point of view of fire protection and a list of products that will be stored on the premises. ‘The operation will include 28,800 square foot building plus a tank farm to be located at 1651 Kingsway on a portion of the Macro property. The Committee was mainly concerned with whether or not the proposed ‘development would meet the zoning by-law requirements. Attached is an extrict from the zoning by~law which indicates that in the Ml zone the packaging and processing of chemicals and allied preducts is ‘permitted. Although the list of chemicals included under this section of the by-law does not include some of the items planned to be stored by Record, the Committee feels that it comes under general description of a chemical processing plant and feels that it should be permitted... The Committee does not recommend the land use contract route as there will be subdivision involved in the land and any off-site servicing requirements can be met via this route. The Committee recommends that the proposal be accepted for further consideration so that the company can proceed with more detailed pians and details of the project for Council consideration.
