We pursued the subject with the R.C.M.P. and they do net with ta continue te do this for the City, they will not he providing this service for the Districe of Coquitiaw and they feel that in the new building their dis- patchers are soinge te he busy enough with X.C.M.P. dutles. Our other alternative was to discuss the matter with the District to see if they could handle dispatching through their Fire Depariment which is manned with dis- Patchers on a full time basis. We have, thereferc, had a number of meetings and vorked out the folloving cost. sharing formula. The reason for pursuing this matter is, of course, to effect sex: saving in costs. IF we grovide our own dispatchers on a 24 hour basse, wo are faced with an Appro.inate expenditure of $35,200.00 a year. Cost sharing with the District ds a practical solution, however, I will point out later in this re- port the possible advantages of going to our own dispatching service in the future. Discussions with the District of Coquitlam have led to rhe following proposal: 1. Their present cost of manning the dispatch service (i.e. not including equiprent costs or building rental) a-iounts to $35,000.00 per year. 2. it ts Proposed that this cost be shared between the District and che City of Port Coquitlan according to the following fornula:: (a) 50% of the cost to Se apportioned on the ratio of the population of the municipalities; (b> 50% to be apportioned on the basis of the nunber of calls dispatched for each area, 3. %It {gs proposed for the year 1972 that the basic cost of four men be included ~ this amounts to $32,009.00, For 1973 costs would iuclude the four ten plus the holiday reJief for these men which amounts ta an additional $3,009.00 for a total of $35,090.00. in 3974 and subeeguent years this $35,000.00 {igure would be adjusted by salary increases, etc. It was agreed that the District would not levy any building Fenta)] as part af the cost, however, we would be required to pay the cost of any speciol ‘phone Lines or any other equipment required for the service.
