She prasented the award to Bobby Fiynn as Ter- race Minor Hockey wound up its season with an awards night and dance for bantarms to juveniles. Minor Hockey’s youth honored The four youngest divi- sions of Terrace Minor Hockey gathered at the Thornhill Community Centre with moms and dads April 14 for their annual banquet and awards night. Every player picked up at least a medal or trophy, and some garnered more than one. Under the guidance of Orest Chalupiak, more than 300 peo- ple sat down toa chicken dinner, then went through a_ well- organized awards presentation. Guest speakers were Shane Maitland of the midget reps and three-time provincial champion- ship coach, Cliff Sharples. Among special awards handed out were coach-of-the-year to Rod McInnes, most promising referee to Curtis Bretherick, an appreciation award to Yvonne Hill, and the president’s award to Ross Bretherick. Chalupiak, who introduced all the division heads, plus coaches and head table guests, told the gathering that registra- tion for the season was 45 in pre- novice, 52 in novice, 47 in atoms and 36 in peewees. He also noted and led the ap- plause for all the team sponsors. They were Spee-Dee Printers for all three pre-novice teams; Elks, Legion and Kalum Electric for novice teams; Kinsmen, Lions and Dave’s Plumbing for atom teams; and Rotary, Thornhill Grocery and Skeena Cellulose for peewee teams. - Esso awards for excellence in the top three divisions were also handed out.
