Kirk, City Administrator September 16, 1991 FROM: Jon Baillie, Fire Chief SUBJECT: MAJOR REPAIRS TO 1975 THIBAULT PUMPER RECOMMENDATION: 1) That the repairs necessary to refit Engine 8-4 to class 1 status be done by Anderson's Engineering Ltd. at a cost of $30,117.48. That if inspection proves that the water tank requires a iiner that a further $3,000.00 be provided That the monies be provided from the Fire Department Equipment Reserve Fund. BACKGROUNDS _& COMMENTS As part of the Insurance Advisory Organization's assessment of Port Coquitlam's insurance classification, all fire department apparatus underwent supervised cesting. Vehicle #56 (Engine 38-4) failed to meet the Underwriter's Laboratories ef Canada Standards for it's clasa one reserve capacity. Engine 8-4 sees considerable use ag it is our only spare. It becomes a first line pumper any time Engines 8-1 or 8~2 are in for repair or service, and any time crews are called in as backup.
