COUNCIL NOV 28 1977 . TO: Mayor and Council . November 25th, 1977 a % FROM: Building and Protection Committee ea ——— The Building and Protection Committee met on Wednesday, November 23rd, in the City Hall. Present Were: Alderman E.W. Mabbett Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove : L.D. Pollock,.City. Administrator a oS 1. Sign Request ~- Theo's Cabaret A representative of Theo's Cabaret spoke to the Committee regarding their request for a temporary sign on Shaughnessy Street to direct attention to their place of business. The Committee reviewed the alternatives which involve either a permanent sign attached to the side of the theatre building ; ‘ or a freestanding sign located on the Bank of Commerce lot. Mr. Turko . explained that he felt that there was only a need for a sign until people got used to the location of his Cabaret. He was reluctant to get involved in a contract with a sign company for a permanent installation in view of the uncertainty of the Bank of Commerce lot. remaining vacant. He had therefore requested a temporary sign installation. The Committee gave the matter consideration and felt that approval for a temporary sign would probably be an advantage rather than having a permanent freestanding sign located on this property. The Committee therefore suggests for Council consideration that approval be granted for a temporary sign for a period of up to three (3) months: maximum to be located on the Bank of Commerce property. The applicant stated he would try to obtain a sketch for the Council's information. It would be up ~ : . to the owner to get the necessary approvals from the owner and lessee of : the Bank property. , 2.
