Ine COLPORATION GF TE CITY GF PERT eceyyTLr 2272 MCALLISTER AVENUE . PORT COQUITLAM. B.ยข. TELEPHONE: 942.7221 OUR FiLe MEMORANDUM To: Alderman P,F. Ranger, Chatrman Publte Works Commit ttee March 9th, 1972. From: V.G. Borch, P, Eng., City Engineer. ee: Alderman E.W. Me Lhett, Ceputy Chairman Publie Yorks Covmet i tee, te: Mary Bill Rood. Thies memorandum will serve as a report outlining the investigations which this department has undertaken so that we can instruct B.C. Bydro what vepatre to Mary Hill Road are necessary, as a result of their underground cable installation last year. It te my uiderstanding that the Municipal Council felt strongly that B.C. Hydro should be requtred to recap the entire width of Pavement on Mary HtLl Road adjacent to their underground eable tnatallation. Our inves tigutions have indicated tnzat the existing base on this area of Mary Hitt Road ts unsatisfactory to a degree that recaoping the entire width would not prevent future breck up, particularly sinee this street has been designated as a Truck Route. It would be my recommendation that B.C. Hydro be required to repair the trench area plus the areas adjacent to the trench that have started to erack and that thts work only be accepted tf tt is completed tn a careful workman like manner. Once this ts completed by B.C. Hydro there will be areas on Mary Hill Road, outside the trench area which will break up. These areas as they break up should be repaired in a thorough and permanent manner, Hopefully in about five years time the worst areas will have been looked after, at which time I think it vould appropriate to consider the reeapping of Mary Hill Road. A further comment which ts not related to B.C. kydro's inetallation ~ I think the sane approach could be used for Mary Hill Road south of Pitt River Road. Respectfully buh V.G. Borch, P. Eng., City Engineer.
