templating the: history of
rock and roll: The dynamic,
powerful - presence’ she
normally brings. with her to
the stages of the night spots
around town is gone today,
"or rather; subdued.

This afternoon, ‘Mills isn't
screaming out “the raspy .
voeals of the local’ “four-
member group, Headping.
She’s ‘sitting quietly in the
sunshine at the ‘city’s
Granville Island, poking at -
a cheese plate. :

. People want to get up and

dance again, says the 22-
year-old,  frecklé-faced
native of B-C.’s Okanagan.
They want ta get back to the
basics of tock and-roll.

“New wave has died out,”
she says. ‘Then the slow
‘tock came - out, the soft
tunes. And now the people.
are getting tired of that.”

‘Mills is hoping Headpins
— with it's own brand of .

"what: she “calls “bowling

-alley rock" — -will help
‘provide the dancing: beat
people are looking for. The
